Ancient Roman Bronze Military Button Circa 1st Century A.D. Framed in 18Kt Yellow Gold with .06CT Natural Cognac Diamond and .06TW White Diamonds, this piece features the incised image of a Gryphon-a mythological creature with the body, hind legs, and tail of a lion and the wings, front talons, and head of an eagle. They are considered to be symbolic of power, wealth, courage, and prestige. The back of the button appears to have been removed at some time prior to being mounted. Recovered from the Lower Danube Region (Lower Danube is a Euroregion located in Romania, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine)
