Spanish Silver Crusader Denier Coin Pendant Circa 1163 - 1188. Obverse:+BOAHVHDVS (Bohemond III, Prince of Antioch) helmeted and chain-mailed bust; crescent and star flanking. Reverse: +ANTIOCHIA, central Jerusalem cross with crescent in quadrant.
Bohemond III bore the title of “Prince of Antioch” and was a Christian ruler whose chaotic reign survived numerous upheavals typical of that period. His most notable accomplishment was to have repelled a siege of his city by Saladin, the same Saladin who successfully captured Jerusalem from its Christian rulers.
Framed in 14Kt Yellow Gold. 19mm wide, 28mm drop. Certificate of Authenticity
